The Road re-opens!

We're delighted to say that, ahead of schedule, the main A591 Grasmere to Keswick road has re-opened following a three mile section of the road being closed since Storm Desmond and December's floods. For months, the landslip between Dunmail Raise and Thirlmere has meant that only pedestrians could move through, and that, whilst this became a bit of a tourist attraction in its own right, it obviously caused problems for our visitors from the north, some of whom have postponed their usual Spring Break at Rothay Garden until the road was well and truly open.

And for all our guests, the re-opening of the road means thatfrom now onwe can all enjoydays out both north and south of Grasmere - including the lovelyattractions of the northern Lakes such as Keswick, Windermere and Bassenthwaite! A week of celebrations is planned later this month, and we'll be emailing all our guests very soon with some great offers to come and stay in Grasmere over the coming months! For now, thanks to the Highways Agency and all the workers involved in reuniting the North and South Lakes - ROLL ON THE SUMMER!
