Rothay Garden makes the final five of the VisitEngland "Small Hotel of the Year" award - 02/04/2014

It has been announced today that Rothay Garden has been shortlisted in the prestigious VisitEngland awards for Excellence, as one of only five hotels that can win this year's national "Small Hotel of the Year" award.  The award will be presented at a gala dinner at Cheltenham Racecourse on 12th May.

The award was initially open to all hotels in England with fewer than 35 bedrooms.  Rothay Garden, of course, has 30 of which 12 are suites.  On hearing the news that Rothay Garden had made the finals, Chris Carss, owner, said "A huge well done to all the team here, and also to our loyal guests, many of whom stay with us three or four times a year and contribute enormously to the friendly atmosphere around the hotel".

James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland added "I would like to congratulate Rothay Garden as finalist for this year's VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.  We receive hundreds of applications each year of an extremely high standard, so it's a tremendous achievement for Rothay Garden to become a finalist and to represent the top five in their category across the whole of England".

"In a rural area with more good restaurants than most big cities can boast, chef Andrew Burton has turned the Rothay into a sparkling gastronomic gem. Not only is the food clever and delicious, this artist of a chef ensures it is incredibly beautiful too."
