The Lake District also offers an ideal location for excellent fishing with an array of beautiful rivers, lakes and tarns, set amid a backdrop of fells and high peaks with breathtaking views of the highest peaks in England.

Fishing

The Lake District has something to offer every type of angler, with a rich diversity of fishing on unspoilt waters. All anglers must obtain an Environment Agency Rod Licence and fly fishing permit before fishing any Lake District water. They are available from all post offices as well as the main tourist information centres.

Sailing/Boating/Cruising

If you enjoy messing about on the river, then the Lake District offers you the chance to sail anything from a dinghy or sailing boat on a wide number of lakes, to a cruiser on Lake Windermere or a simple rowing boat on lovely Grasmere. Less energetic guests may just wish to let someone else take the strain, and enjoy one of the wonderful steamers which plough up and down beautiful Derwentwater, Ullswater, Coniston Water or Windermere.
