Every year, Chris Carss and his team at Rothay Garden hold two popular Food and Wine holidays. These are aimed at lovers of gastronomy who want to explore wines and traditional dishes from famous wine regions around the world. The holidays run for four days and include tutored tastings, regional dinners and culinary demonstrations from Masterchef Andrew Burton. They are a great way to enhance your knowledge in a convivial and friendly atmosphere.

 Monday 22nd - Friday 26th November 2010

The next Food and Wine Programme runs from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th November. Prices for the four day inclusive programme are £435 per person in a Rydal Room, £445 in a Langdale Room, £465 in a Grasmere Room, and from £485 in a Loft Suite.

A further programme will run from Monday 21st - Friday 25th March 2011.

Walking Holidays - available year-round

The Lake District is arguably the best destination in England for a walking break. A short break or longer holiday really does give walkers an invigorating package of great walking, unrivalled scenery and gourmet food. The lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water provide a great backdrop for less strenuous walks, including the famous "Coffin Trails", a series of trails running between local villages which were once used by locals to take their family and friends to their final resting place!

Guests at Rothay Garden usually prefer to keep their walking plans informal rather than packaged around a set itinerary. Nevertheless, around the area there are walks for all tastes - including many which offer superb views across the Central Lakes to Windermere and beyond - and our team at Reception will be happy to advise and recommend the best walks for you.

Valentines Weekend - Friday 11th and Saturday 12th February 2011

What better way to celebrate a relationship than with a romantic short break at Rothay Garden! So why not enjoy a true weekend getaway and rediscover yourselves at the heart of the Lake District.

Arrive on Friday and you will be greeted with Champagne, Chocolates and Flowers in your bedroom. On Saturday, you can enjoy a day exploring or shopping in and around Grasmere, before returning to Rothay Garden for an intimate Valentine candlelit dinner. Sunday morning is at your leisure, and you can enjoy a lazy brunch with late checkout prior to departure. Prices for the two night break are £225 per person in a Rydal Room, £245 in a Langdale Room, £265 in a Grasmere Room, and from £285 in a Loft Suite.
